63 wheel cylinders

I had read in the forum in the past that 63 single push wheel cylinders are hard to come by. Well, I had the left front start leaking. I rebuilt them about 10 years ago so I got some good use from them. The cylinder is not that bad. Minor pitting, and would probably hone out. I checked with NAPA and they don't have the cylinders and can't get them. The rebuild kit that they listed appeared to be for a double push as well. However, they showed me a picture of the 65 double push cylinders and I can't see any reason why they wouldn't be a direct bolt up. I realize I'll have to scrounge two extra push rods. The 65 cylinders at NAPA are only $12.99 so I'm thinking I'll give it a shot. Has anyone done this? Can anyone think of a reason why this would not work? In a few minutes I'm going to try to add a picture of my backer plate to my gallery...

I replaced both the front cylinders on my '63 with new double push cylinders and they bolted right on.

I recently bought a left-front wheel cylinder for a '63 F100 2WD on eBay for $17. I'm not sure that I'll ever need it though. If the '64 cylinders & hardware don't work out for you, let me know and you can have it for the original $17 that it cost me + shipping.

I installed the double push wheel cylinders on my '63 Also. Absolutely bolt on and no worries. You'll need to scrounge a couple of actuator rods if you don't have some lying around from another project.

I bought the double cylinders today and NAPA had the rods also. Around $32.00 for everything for both sides. Plan to get it back together this weekend. Thanks for the offer on the single push cylinder JimKoz but hopefully I won't need it. When I showed my old single push wheel cylinder to the guy at the NAPA store today he seemed absolutely flabbergasted by it.

Its probably been 20 years since I replaced the cylinders on mine. The single push weren't available then either.

As to being flabbergasted, lot of the younger guys at the parts stores these days have no idea what points are either.
