Anyone know of a replacement source for the clip that holds the heater control **** on the shaft. Mine has the hind legs broken off and the **** will not stay on. The clip will stay on the shaft while the **** is in my fingers.
Don't know why, but it isn't the issue in the summer time.
If the clip stay's on isn't the back off the **** broken??Mine all have the clip in the back off the **** and can be released with a small pick.If the clip stays on then the back of the **** is damaged.

You can steal the clip off the wiper **** since the ***** are identical.
The clip only came with the ****, t'wasn't available separately.

Big thanks Bill, I will be going home on T-day and have some spares up there. I will be more careful taking it apart. I think yanking on it is what happened to the clip on there now. Someone had mentioned a set screw but this one doesn't have one. Do you know which year models did?
When you need something, just ask here, there are answers to be had.

Set screws = Up to 1960, then 1970 and later on some *****, others continued to use the clip. Many of the later ***** were the same ones the cars used. A paper clip can be used to trip the clip, so the **** can be removed. I had a friend once that was trying to move that clip. He was laying cattywampus on the seat with his feet up against the back glass, cussin' a blue streak. I said "why don't you just turn the **** so the clip will be easier to reach?" The look on his face was priceless, and he said "why didn't I think of that?"
On some of the 1960 and earlier trucks, the heater **** was part of the cable assembly and can't be removed.

86-96 use similar clips in both Triangluar & One Sided/flat-round type config's, on the various ***** of F-150 XLT style dash panels.
IOW, all shafts coming thru' the trim panel use a step/tension clip retainer set up. I believe they are still available at Henry's Parts Dept, although they are not listed as for 60's or70's models by FoMoCo's parts Literature.
You need to have a "friend" [read as connection] in a FoMoCo Parts Dept willing to take the time to help and/or work with you thru "trial & error" searching. or go to a salvage yard & start releasing & checking out the *****.
