a buddy of mine has an 02 explorer and has some problems with the power windows. theres an arm with a plastic clip on the end that appears to be broken and there's a cable lying in the bottom of the door he wants to know what the part is called & does anyone have a detailed picture of what it's supposed to look like . is this strictly a ford part or is there aftermarket suppliers
If it's connected to the bottom of the window and it's white, it's the power window regulator. You have to order the whole assembly and I believe it comes with the motor too? I suggest OEM/Ford, but do what you will.
I have a 2002 Mountaineer, and my rear drivers side electric window went down last week, but never came back up.
The motor IS working.
Took off the door panel, and I see that the window sits on a plastic clip(like a U channel) which attaches to a flat rod that go's up and down...
Well that plastic clip broke, and the window doesn't sit inside it anymore (obviously) making the window inoperable(had to raise the window by hand).
I have searched around for this "Clip" with no success.....
Please don't tell me that I have to replace the whole regulator to get this working again, I was hoping to find that CLIP somewhere!!
Anyone have a schematic of this regulator unit so I can try and track this part down?
I have searched, and all I've seen so far is FRONT regulators to boot!! ARRRRRGGGGGHHHH
If the cable or one of the pulleys is broken you're going to have to replace the regulator. Just because you "hear" the motor or "see" the drive gear turn don't assume it's "working". I made this mistake only to find out ford used plastic planetary gears inside the motor. It would turn the drive gear, but when you put a load on it(glass window) it begins to slip. You have to take the cover off of the motor to look inside to be SURE the gears are not plastic and if they are replace them with the upgraded metal ones or install a new motor.
