Hot Carb Body
Returned from some city driving in 85 degree temp's today and found the carb was hot to the touch pretty much all the way to the air cleaner. Since I normally only drive this rig in the winter I have never noticed this before. Last summer I pulled the air pump, not to gain HP but for lack of finding servicable air/exhaust injection pipe's. I had read later on this forum that this can cause high temp's, but never experienced this. I had to retain the EGR cause the carb would not bolt up directly to the intake manifold, but put some plugs in it and all seemed fine. I can't believe hot gas and air(because of combo intake/exhaust) is allowing this rig to run it's best. Anyone have this problem or is this a normal transfer of heat?

Well I honestly don't think that you have a problem. As long as the vehicle is not over heating it should be ok. I personally do not remember touching a carb but I do remember that it can get really "hot" under there and a hot carb body would not seem unreasonable.
