1987 Ford F150 4X4 300ci 4 spd.
When running the tach goes to about 4500 and stays there all the time until engine is shut down. No other problems, truck runs out just fine. Still going strong at 194,000 miles on untouched engine, proven ford tough with proper maintenance. Any help is appreciated.

Hey,
Saw your post and wanted to drop a reply for you. I have been having similar issues. I came across some Posts while searching and most seem to agree that if the engine doesn't have any driveability issues then your tach is to suspect. May just be a loose wire from the dash internal or you may have to replace the tach. Not sure what the price of a new tach is for the truck, but LMCtruck.com has a lot of parts availiale within a reasonable price. Maybe someone can chime in on this Post and help you out more. Sometimes with as many Posts in this Forum, not everyone gets a reply the first time around. Try using the Search function and include the (+) sign before each word.
