I'm sure that this question has probably been asked before, but what do you think the best mod for these trucks are. My future mods include, headers, a new exhaust system, cam, and a transmission rebuild. What else would you guys do?
During the trans rebuild get a nice Shift kit installed. I installed a B&M thans pack. Best thing ever. Was tired of Fords super slow butter shift. I used the Off-Road RV springs. The Race ones make it annoying to drive everyday. Throw a nice set of heads on also of you didnt list that.
Depending on your engine, you can keep the cost down by using an electric fan from a 3.8L Taurus. Google "taurus fan" and you'll find tons of threads on Mustang, Bronco, and general off-road sites about tutorials on how to do it, it's a very common mod; and the Taurus fan pushes as much if not more than the $200-300 fans. Here's pics of my setup:
3 relay setup (its a 2-speed fan):
The downside of using the Taurus fan is that because it pushes so much CFM it pulls a pretty large load from the alternator, so you DEFINITELY need a 3G alternator, 95amp is sufficient but you'd be better off with the 130amp.

I know that taurus fan is good, caus of my mus I have also looked into it, but once again havent had the time. Just moved and quit my job as I was being asked to do what I used to do. Was a gas pumper and finally upgraded to mechanic but then they kept askin me to pump so I said PEACE. Then my mom crashed her car, then my bros head gasket went in his Talon, stupid mopar 2.0's. Hopefully Monday I will have a new job. Got all cars fixed and running great so I can get a job now lol.
I am in need of an alternator as mine is starting to crap out. I have to stock one still, Where do I get the 130Amp one, will help when snow plowing.

Sweet, thanks man
I found the alt on the site http://rjminjectiontech.com/?p=6 The side mount is mine 160amp
Now then I need this also http://rjminjectiontech.com/?p=7 the cable kit. The 4th or 5th one down, I dont need the 1st one right. It hooks up to my stock wiring. I did the 3G conversion in my stang and its the same. Just different mounting on the alt.

Don't lump all the different chassis/engine combos together and treating them like they need the same mods.. that's just not the case.
For your '94 5.8 with stock or near stock tires I suggest 3.73 gearing and 1.7 roller rockers, and then some exhaust work. If this were a 5.0 truck you want 4.10 gearing, longtube headers and a big cam upgrade. On a 4.9 truck you want 3.55 or numerically smaller gearing because it makes all it's power down low. With a bigger truck and/or tires the gearing should get lower(numerically higher) from these numbers.
If the OP is moving a lot more air (exhaust upgrades, bigger cams, better heads etc.) does he need to be worried about flummoxing up the speed density injection? Just wondering...
There are cams that are speed density friendly. Othewise, I don't see an issue with the other aftermarket parts, however, it'll need more fuel. At the minimum, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator will help if no aftermarket tuning is available.
