1987 Econoline Question
My wife and I train our dogs and were thinking about buying an older, used motorhome this year. But I've been thinking a full size van and a pull behind camper would be more use. I have a company Jeep and she drives a Windstar, so a full size van would offer us some hauling and dog travel all in one.
I happen to know a guy who wants to get rid of a 1987 3/4 ton van. He said he drove it to his house 2 years ago when his fater-in-law passed away and it's been in his driveway/ yard every since. He remembered the heater and air conditioner did not work. He said he was going to get $150 for it from the junk yard, but it could be fixed up for what I want to use it for.
I'm not sur ewhat engine is in it, but I do know that he said the body is rough and he's not sure if it'll start. My father-in-law are going to look at it next Sunday to get an idea of what needs to be done.
Other than normal frame rot, what should I look for? My father-in-law is a mechanic, so he'll look at the drive train and engine. If it's not really rotted away, would this be worth rebuilding for a dog show/lumber/camping vehicle?
Thanks,
SUMO
