Hi guys,
Don't mean to be redundant on the issue. i know about the kits to put one in a 1960 f-100 But my stepdad who has seen more of these trucks than i ever will, says that if I put one in it will collapse the front end. Will it or won't it? I tell him that it won't but I fall on deaf ears. He also claims that it is a quarter ton, which I know is a crock. I know all the brains on this site can help me out.
Well i tell yea know a F100 aint no quarter ton its just a light duty half ton like a F150 but with not as heavy duty suspension and i dont think a 302 would collapes the front end but i leave that to the guys who have put a 302 in a 60
sandhillmike is far too nice....sounds like step-pops is outta his league and don't know when to admit it. Unless you're only 15 and it's HIS truck, then I say go for it...this is not rocket science.
Speaking as a father of three boys who are always doing something to their rides, he may be trying to discourage any projects that take up his garage space for at least a couple months, result in parts scattered all around, etc. If that's it, he should just say so. He should also expect you'll do just the opposite of whatever he says!
We just purchased our first F100 about 10 days ago. You can see it in the gallery titled 'Lil Red.
It is completely original except for the 302 V8 and C4 automatic that came out
of a 1972 F150!
Our truck was originally built with a 272 & a Ford-O-Matic...
I know we have not had it very long, but we have been drivin' it around to shake the bugs out if it before the Michigan winter gets here and have found NO PROBLEMS!
The previous owner had this truck since 1973...let pops know your good 2 go...

Here is a 302 with old worn out springs and in a 6cyl truck frame and springs and according to Eaton springs they had to soften my new springs to get a proper ride.
