Hey guys can anyone give me some advice for changing the 02 sensor on the drivers side exhaust manifold right above the first cat? What kind of tool do you recommend I checked it out this mornin when I changed my oil & the 02 sensor was larger than a 3/4 " wrench & there was hardly any room to move it.
Can any one give me some advice on changing it?
So I got out of class early and made it to advanced right before they close and they wanted 46.78 for an o2 sensor!! There's no way im spendin that on something that isn't hurting my truck and giving me any problems.
I swear I thought i've changed the o2 sensory in a japanese truck for 10 bucks, it was alot simpler engine & it was a few years back but man this just really blew me away...
Is that inline w/ how much one should cost?

Yeah, sounds about right. They're pricey little gadgets. When I changed mine I think I just unhooked the wire and used a box end wrench, possibly some of my larger flare wrenches but I didn't get the O2 socket. Crank the wheel hard and you can get to it through the wheel well easiest. You really only need to replace the upper two from my understanding since those control the engine mixture - the bottom two just let the computer know the cats are functioning properly and are not as important. Someone correct me if wrong but thats what I seem to recall hearing. I only replaced my top 2 sensors at about 110k.
Yeah I decided I'm not replacing it. I don't have $50 bucks to waste right now. Only 4 semesters left in Radiology school & I got a few thousand left in the bank so I'm just hoping to finish school without having money problems.
Thanks for the replies & advice though! After I'm done with school I'll buy some small fuel efficient car and I want to restore my F150, It'll probably have close to 300,000 miles on it by then, knock on wood it'll carry me these last 4 semesters with just costing me gas & oil!
