Happyreefer,
Welcome to FTE and the IDI forum.

Nice truck.
Is that a turbo intake I see in the backround?

One was a return line, can cause problems starting.
The other was a schrader valve and may still be under the hose.

My guess is someone was having starting issues, so the removed the return line.
Then either the problem continued so they covered the schrader valve with hose and blocked the end or they lost/damaged the valve core while testing the fuel pressure.

A schrader valve uses a valve core like the one in your tires.
It should be the center position on the fuel header.

Hey, that looks like my fuel filter! As Dave said, one should go to the return lines, and the one that looks line a tire valve stem (schrader valver) goes to nothing and has a cap on it normally. From what I learned, the schraeder valve hardly ever goes bad. Not true for the valve going to the return lines on the injectors. Mine was bad.

But... I plugged my line going to the return lines like he did for a week while I ordered my new valve, and I could not tell any difference from when it was plugged or connected to the return lines. I'm still not sure what value it has.

regards

Wayne

Thanks for the praise on the truck, and yes she is a Turbo 7.3 IDI. I purchased this for 8K about a year ago. I looked for a good year for just the right truck. I did not want one lifted as she is but the gearvender on her sold me. She is pulling 29 MPG at 70 MPH with the gearvender on running 1500 RPM's. Towing she is right back down there at about 12 MPG. Overall the truck is in good shape. It definatley needs some TLC but but a great base to work off of. Trans needs to be gone through, front axle seals need to be replaced. Brakes need to be serviced. power steering lea from the pump and a couple of leaks on the engine need to be identified and stopped. I even think the turbo is lacking a little, she will definatley keep me busy.

Also thanks for the info on the Fuel Filter Assembley. Ive read about checking fuel pressure on the schrader valve but never seen one on mine, makes sence now and will refit with a new schrader valve but still confused about the fuel return line and why that is capped off. I know these trucks are notorious for air in the returns due to the o-rings on the injectors but still am unsure why this would be capped off.
