What are the biggest tires that I can run on the stock 2003 f250 16 inch wheels?? was thinking of doing a 285 75 16?? Anything bigger I believe they are 16x7 wheels
good question, trying to decide for myself if I am going to stick with stock rims or go with something bigger. I am not putting on a lift so I am limited.
I think the stock wheels on my '03 F-350 are 16X8 and I have Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75R16E(33") tires on it. I think that's about as wide as you can go on stock wheels, any wider and you may have rubbing issues. Aftermarket wheels can give different backspacing and offset to allow lots of options. I have added a single leaf to go from 4800# to 6000# which is what the snow plow package gives you, it ended up about where a leveling kit would leave it and the 33s fit no problem and I'm sure 35s would too. You can have the dealer put the snow plow prep package springs on, that way it would still be "OEM" and not a mod.

that is no biggie, already rides like ****. Now that I think about it, mine did have a plow on at one time, before I bought it. How would I know if it doesn't have the kit on already?

I'm runnin BFG AT 295 75/R16's on my '03 with minor rubbing at full lock. Other than that, they look and perform great!
My stock 04 lariat wheels are 16 x 7 1/2. I will be going with 285/75/16's as soon as my stock 265 BFG's wear out. The 285/75/16's are the biggest tire rated for a 7 1/2" wheel. Some run bigger tires than these on stock wheels but it is not ideal. I also have an add-a-leaf in front and the ride seems as good as stock.
well I stopped by the tire store and they made me a hell of a deal on a 16x8 rim and a 295-75-16 BFG all terain tire. Think this would be a wise choice?
The wheels are 16x7 first of all. Second I had run 285's with no problems. People had run all the way to 305's with no problems.
I would not go any higher that 285's for a bunch of reasons. Some are visual and some are wear and gearing issues. I thaught my 285's looked to "balloon" for me. The overall size of the tire fit the truck nicely. It did look like the 285's had too much tire and not enough tire. If you run oversized tire, you have to mess around with pressures to keep them wearing evenly. Also, the bigger you go the more your low end suffers to to less effective gearing.
I currently run 285 65 18's. The tire is the some overall dimensions in height and width to the 285 75 16's but looks better on 18's. More perportionate to the tires.
