Does anyone have an electrical diagram for '66 F-100, preferable the turn and brake light area. Left signal works but brake does not. Tail lights work. Just got the truck last week.
Do the brake lights on your truck work off of the pressure activated switch on the front of the master cylinder? That's how they work on my 65, as a matter of fact, I jus bought a replacement and need to get it installed, as my brake lights have taken the notion to only work when they want to.
The wire slip connector on the pressure switch on mine loosened up over time and gave me the same problem. I just squeezed it lightly with a pair of pliers so that it would fit snugly on the terminal to fix it.
I still have the old single reservoir master cylinder with the pressure switch on top.
JEOL Welcome to FTE, the nations online truckstop for ol Ford trucks.
Remove the taillight lenses, and move the non working bulb to the working socket to see if the bulb is good or not. The bulb should have two filaments and I think 1157 part number.
The brake and turn signal share the same wire. Once you get turnsignals on both sides you know that delivery to the rear is good.
As noted with the ign switch on and a helper test the wire at the master cylinder.
If your RIGHT brake lite works and both directionals work, then the problem is in your turn signal switch on the steering column. power flow is from battery to brake switch to directional switch to light. The turn sig switch disconnects the signal it wants to flash from the brake circuit and re-connects it when done flashing
You can buy the replacement pressure switch for the brake lights. As suggested I would check out the bulbs that are not working at all. Glad to hear you actually use your turn signals. You must not live in my town.
