Intercooler tubes question

I had alot of oil residue coming from the lower boot of the ic tube on the driver side, so I took it all off to clean it and found the oil was actually coming from under the insulation. I noticed a dent on the tube on one side, but on the other side was a deep indentation where a bolt or some sort of stud had hit the tube. I was not too supprised as my X had been in a front end collision a few years ago. I went ahead and removed all of the insulation, PITA, and found a very small hole on one side of the indentation. I went a head and welded it up, but my question is should I replace the tube or will it hurt anything having the dents in it.

ccv mod is next. this was a dirty job!!

my early 99 did the same thing..the lower profile turbo made the driver side IC pipe run very close to the power steering pump..the brass elbow for the PS hose rubbed a hole in the IC pipe..i made the dent a little deeper and welded the hole..it didn't change any thing as far as EGT's or boost..i got new pipes and a 99.5 turbo now..but i think you should be good to go...

That is good to hear. I noticed without the insulation the tube hits that fitting on the powersteering pump. Maybe I'll ziptie a piece of mudflap on the fitting to prevent it from cutting a hole there.
