hic up

I've had my big truck (03 F350 7.3 diesel )for about 6 weeks and I still am amazed with it .It is everything i always thought a diesel won't be . Here's my problem , I have put about 4000 miles on it and 2000 of them have been pulling our 30 ft 5th wheel from Tenn to Louisiana to Chicago and now Peoria Il. Last Wed afternoon going to the laundry mat as I turned a corner in second gear (manual trans) it all of a sudden hic_upped. Then Friday at same speed it did it again . Today about 1hr ago it did it again . I have been in Illinois (Peoria) and have had to put two tanks of BIO diesel in it . I used conditioner and as soon as I got far enough away from "BIO diesel" I filled up and am still using the conditioner. Can anyone tell me what is going on , I have not been lucky enough yet to be looking at the tach when it happens so I don't know if it is reacting . Help I am going back to Ill to pick my 5 th wheel ,do I have a problem beginning
Thanks for your help

Sounds like the ol cam sensor. If you do notice the tach next time, and it does react, thats the give-away.
15 bucks here, pretty cheap at dealerships now too.
What is the total mileage on your truck? Even if it might not be the CPS, it's a good idea to have a spare anyway.

Yeah, if it isn't the CPS now, it'll probably be soon anyway, If I were you I'd just go ahead and change it, even if it doesn't fix it, at least you'd have a spare. Easy to do, takes a couple minutes. I think it's a 10mm socket, but I'm not sure. Run a forum search for CPS, there's a good picture somewhere showing exactly where it is.

OK I looked up the CPS and found that I have three choices, one is $25 ,one is $129 and the last is called a blue CPS . that is suppose to make the engine Quiter, better mileage ,run smoother and all . Does because it cost a lot more make it better and are the things the article says about the blue ,the truth

Got er done , Thanks again for the help, It must have been the problem because it runs Much quiter and smoother now. Don't know if these were symptoms or not . I had noticed latey that it was a lot noisier and a little rough ,it seemed ,than usual .. Oh yea what about the BIO DIESEL is that a problem that I should worry about ,cause I am on my way back to Cental Il and that's about all they have up there

These engines run fine on bio. Actually, some claim "better"! They're pretty "forgiving". Older technology, but tried and true.

Feel welcome to come around this forum from time to time. Great bunch of enthusiasts here, and there's not much we, collectively, haven't seen.
