02 V8 4.6L Cold Start Problem
My 4.6L 02 Explorer just developed a cold start problem.
Basically when the engine is completely cold(like after sitting for a few hours) the car does not want to idle without some initial help, it'll crank and start but die right after it starts. I have to keep the gas pedal to the floor, start the engine, then rev it a couple of times, then after that it'll idle fine. When it starts and I'm revving it the first time, it sputters and struggles a little like the engine is running rich, but once I rev it up to say 3.5K rpm a couple of times and let go of the gas it'll idle fine by itself.
Been looking around and seems like the most likely culprit might be the IAC valve. But before I go and just replace the valve, does anyone know if this would be the symptom if the IAC valve is going bad or sticking? I was under the impression that if the IAC valve is bad, then it would idle rough or not idle in any condition...for my car, its only the first start...once it starts I can shut it off and it'll start right up.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
