4x4 system trouble.
I'm looking to purchase a used f150 and was wondering how the 4x4 system was standing up on the 97-2002 f150 trucks. Any major problems that have occured and what should I look for when shopping around.

4x4 system trouble.
I just traded my 97 in after having it six years. The only problem I had was after about a year it would not engage properly. I could make a sharp left turn and make it engage, not the most convenient. I took it in and had it repaired with no problems. If I remember correctly, there was a TSB for the fix. The next five years were flawless. I had the manual transfer case, info only.

Just to add
on a chevy I saw there was an actuator(excuse my spelling) in the front axel that engages the front lockouts.And yes it had a manual transfer case. I'd imagine fords are the same.
