exhaust setup questions......

Hey yall i was just wonderin what u thought would be the best exhaust setup for the money. i just spoke to a muffler shop guy and he told me not to do headers cuz they wont do much for my engine. he also told me i had to buy a special catalytic converter to replace the two stock inline ones. i dont buy that and live in ohio, where there are no emissions tests anyhow. so i was thinking go with stock headers, new hi-flow cat, flowmaster 40 series muffler. i like the original flowmaster sound....dual 2.5" or single 3" muffler exit/tailpipes??? thanks a bunch!!

Just bought 1,000 miles ago:

exhaust setup questions......

I have a '95 F150 300 I6 and I wouldn't get headers for anything, but then I don't want to raise the rpm level either. Headers are more suited for higher rpms which our 300s normally don't see much of. You already have the factory dual exhaust manifolds which are pretty nice. I have been told the major restriction in our trucks is the muffler and that most of the power gains (stock engine, of course) are realized with a freer flowing muffler installed right inthe stock piping. Stock cats of later model vehicles (I thinnk that includes our '95s) have fairly free flowing cats compared to the cats used in say the 70's and 80's. So, probably if you want to save your money, go with just a muffler and maybe a shorty pipe out in front of the rear wheel instead of the long twisty tailpipe and you should be in pretty good shape. That's my advice and I admit I am no expert, but have read a lot about it.

INLINE SIX POWER!
300 Cubic Inches of Low RPM Truck Torque! And twin-I-beams too!
