8.8 to 9.75

Has any one ever did this swap.... does the 8.8 disk brakes swap over, drive shaft? Aparently my rear gears are going south and i have a few 9.75's to throw in.... hopefully this is an easy swap...

Disc brakes don't swap over....And you might need a new driveshaft since the 9.75 is longer than the 8.8 (or source one from a truck in the junkyard with the same wheelbase)

8.8 to 9.75

I have swapped from the 8.8 to the 9.75. I drive a 99 f150 4x4 extended cab short bed with a 4.6 and a manual 5 speed transmission.

The swap was no sweat right up to the end were the drive shaft would not fit in because the 9.75 was larger.

I took my shaft to Valley Trucks and had them chop it and balance it a couple inches.

The rest was smooth sailing.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

-Steve

You had me confused. A disc brake swap is when you put disc brakes on an axle that origionally came with drum brakes. If your 9.75 already has discs, then you will be good to go

And yeah, as long as the driveshaft came out of a truck with the same wheelbase, then it should fit just fine as well. I.E.: A regular cab short bed's DS will not interchange with a super cab short bed's DS...
