I got a significant coolant leak again (3rd in about 4 years) -- first it was the gasket betwen the pump and the block, then a few months ago a punctured lower radiator hose. The coolant is coming from the front of the passager side, but I can't see the source, and it doesn't appear to be the water pump gasket. Car (and I suppose engine) is at 208k miles.

It could be one a few things leaking. could be where the heater hoses conect or where they run up & over the engine and have rubed thru. Also could be a soft plug. If water can find a place to leak out like a joint between the head and intake, it will. you just have to get in there and look, if you can see it dripin' underneath then you should be able to find it. Oh and another place it could be leaking if its EFI, the bottom tube on the throttle body usually rots out. hope this helps you. Keep Em' Twistin'! Bob B.

Honestly, I tried, but it's somewhere behind the air pump and the alternator, and I wasn't be able to get in there last night.

Easier said than done, but thanks for the tips, I'll check them out. Will post some pics over the weekend to show what's visible from underneath.
I can clearly see it coming down from below, but I can't see the source, and everything looks fine from above. I guess I'll probably need to pull some accessories, and that might help to locate the source.
Guess I don't need to worry about what to do over the weekend.
When my water pump was leaking at the weep hole, it did something similar to that. It was leaking uderneath the waterpump and running down the hose. Best way to spot it was too crawl underneath, dry everything up with paper towels, and then wait. Mine was a really slow leak, so I waited about 10 to 15 minutes before I actually got to see any fluid.
Hope this helps.
Good luck
I like her!! Put a pressure check on system . Hook to rad in place of cap. Can rent barrow one at most auto parts. You should will be able to see/find location of leak with out getting burned trying to do it on hot motor.
Since I needed the car over the weekend (moving) and it was raining, I just weaseled out and bought a bottle of stop leak ("liquid aluminium") and added that to my coolant. That seem to have more or less fixed it (or probably just postponed the inevitable) since instead of losing almost a gallon/day (!!!) now consumption is down to a more tolerable (?!) pint/day.
