Upgrade Turbo

If I want to upgrade my turbo, what size should I go with? At what point will I need injectors? What is "big oil" I keep seeing people mention?

Assuming you have a 7.3 I would say that upgrading your turbo all depends on what your trying to do with your truck.

Big Oil is a set of twin HPOP's. It helps to maintain high ICP levels to keep the injectors firin at WOT

I want to do a couple of upgrades so that the truck pulls better (I have a 27ft boat), and is quicker on the highway when I am cruising. I want to upgrade it without loosing drivablilty. I am not going to drag race it, but I wouldn't mind it being quick enough to do so. I am having trouble finding how much I can do without doing too much, so to speak. What is worth doing, and what is a waste of time and money. Injectors, yes/no; big oil, yes/no; front mount, turbo, how much can I do without having too much in it? I don't want to have to do injectors if it takes away from drivability so to speak. I have never had a diesel before, but I did own an import performance shop. When you upgrade some of those turbo cars you loose drivability and run into more problems than the upgrades were worth. I just don't want that to happen.

I would start off by doing some supporting mods like intake, exhaust, gauges, and a wicked wheel(an upgrade compressor wheel for your turbo that helps reduce turbo surge) The I would recommend you get a tuner from Jody at Dp-Tuner if your lookin for easy and safe power gains. Best of Luck

Sorry...didn't mention. I have all that. DP Tuner, mbrp exhaust, and intake. I want more while I have the chance to do it and before the mileage gets too high

Then I would suggest you get a set of single shot injects from BDP, they're a nice little power adder IMO. Might also look into the Garret GT38 bb turbo upgrade for your truck if your gonna go with A/M injects. I hear its a nice unit

be carefull of going to the single shot injectors. If you do this it you will also need a chip that will adapt to the change or your truck will idle real rough and not get the best performance. I have a friend that did this and had to get a custom burnt chip for the 7.3 to run right. Once he got the chip it ran awesome. I myself am upgrading injectors to the single shots but also adding the custom burned chip. I got all of my stuff from AMJ Performance out of TN and those guys are great. They are very helpfull and can put together a package that will do what you want.

I'm surprised you didn't mention the dominator 66 turbo from BDP.
