I have been looking through lots of Truckin' type mags and have seen ads for lots of add on cosmetic parts but the problem is that they dont advertise for f-150s before the body change. what i am looking for mainly is a cowl induction or ram air or combo hood. I don't need it painted cause thats a future upgrade but i would like to know if anyone has one of these hoods for the late 80's models, mines an 89 150. Also has anyone gotten a new steering wheel to replace the stock one. Mines totaly wearing out on top and i wanna get a basic Kragen after market wheel and I was wondering how you got to work with the cruise control panels on the wheel if any of you did this? thanx
Cervini's has both cowl and ram air hoods for the 96-down F-150, don't know if they go back to 89 though.
You're probably screwed on the steering wheel; if it's got a lead azide explosive device (it's NOT an "airbag") no aftermarket manufacturer would dare touch it.
I'm not to positive with what you mean by the "explosive devise" for the wheel. I know mine does not have a airbag and I'v seen the inside where the wires hook up and it would seem easy enough to rig something in the dash inbetween the tack and speed-o and the lower instrament panel w/the washer and light switches. I have no idea though why no one makes hoods for these models, you see them everywhere and the 150,250,350's all look like they have similar hoods/grills/cabs for these years. thanxw
Hi, there is no explosive device in the steering wheel on an 89 as I have a 90 and a non stock wheel and adapter hub. There are no kits to bolt on with all the chrome goodies. See my other answer in the Post-- Dressup kits.
