Hey all....just dropping a line....I've got a bunch of new pics in my gallery...way too many to try and post on a single thread.....Take a look and gimme some opinions...Hope I didn't gettoo crazy with the engine color...don't worry...there'll be some chrome on the completed pic......and I've got aton more pics too in the very near future...just waiting on parts from Summit. Thanks!
Looks great! I like the colour matching you've got going on. So I assume you're just using 1.7 rockers and not changing the cam? You'll have to post results with the head swap.. I'm looking into the same thing. What are you doing to clean up the headgasket surfaces on the block? So you noticed a gain with the new BBK unit?
I really like how your diff came out as well.. all it needs it a nice new cover.
Naw the comp cams is the 10 dollar cam I got offa e-bay for my 83 Bronco project toy.....I'm just gonna go with the 1.7's for now along with porting out the exhaust ports on her....I'll definately post the gains and some pics of the rocker install...I appreciate the complement Skandocious....I was actually figuring a less enthusiastic response..The BBK did make a difference but it stole my low end so I'll be swapping on a used set of Long tubes to hopefully make up for it and I've got a tailpipe for an 80's 460 which will be finding it's place on my truck soon enough as well as a Hedman Hedders Big Wazoo pipe...just wish I coulda got the stainless tip instead of the chrome...didn't come in the size I wanted..it's for a 2 1/2 pipe and it's a 4 incher by 24 inches....I'm hoping to get some tone out of it......just haven't decided on the muffler yet....the glasspacks I have now are sounding great...maybe I'll just slap another one of them on..still need to get a long tube y-pipe made for it....or I'll fab it up myself......
Oh, road virus.....the sea foam deep creep works really well for removing old gaskets....found that out accidentally...just get real liberal with it and let it soak....works good.Hey, what is everyone's name?I believe Skan's is Chris but I ain't positive......I'm Junior....ha ha least they don't call me tiny!
Why not run true-duals? That'll give you some tone.. don't mind me, I'm just biased. Figure I'll ask again - what are you doing to clean up the headgasket mating surface on the block?
well...I have true duals that come out the passenger side like a lightning and it sounds absolutely great but I'd like to go different from what other people are doing from around here (IE skimpy mart flowmaster job) and do a single...i figure it'll probly sound pretty good.Good to meet ya.
You too. I'm not even sure what I have for mufflers, they're big circle chambered tubes and they sound great. But I'm doing a new exhaust this winter and I'm scared as to what it's going to sound like, don't want to ruin it. I think I'm going to run 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 pipe and glasspacks.. can't go wrong there. I hope.
well, I got quoted 150....but it is a buddy of mine so price at a machine shop probably varies...but I only did my exhaust ports because I've heard more than one person on here say if you're not going to pay to have a P/P done then at least port the exhaust side yourself...it ain't hard at all...all i really did was gasket match it and it only takes me about 5 -10 minutes a port...I just got a carbide bit and a El Cheapo drill put my gasket on there marked out where the edge of the gasket was pertaining to the ports and worked on it VERY carefully...I didn't want to do too much because it's my very first Port job so i beveled the outside edges a little bit and smoothed out the inside of the tunnel ONLY where I had marked it.....on these heads....the only part that needed it were the right side and the top along with the bottom right upperright and left corners kinda like an upside down L.....see how it works out...gawd I am sooo excited.I feel like a kid at a Ford dealership.LOL...what's ur name 17 Fordguy?
