I am thinking about putting a flowmaster 40 series delta flow on my 3.0 ranger. Can anyone tell me how it sounds? Are there any other brand that wouldnt sound to ricy on the 3.0?
We ran a Super 44 on our 3.8liter Windstar as a joke, and it sounds okay, but doesnt sound mean at all, so i think with a even smaller engine you need to really do some investigating what type of muffler you put on there before doing it.
I put a 40 on my 2006 3.0 Ranger and it sounds nice. It isn't loud but has a nice low rumble to it. I also saw a small increase in power and a little bit better gas mileage. I am glad I did it for the 100.00.
I would think the stock 2" piping would suffice. The stock muffler is the big plug. I just inspected my OEM-type (second replacement) muffler and found there is no third tube. Rather it had twelve 3/8" holes, which figures to about half the cross section area of the pipes. Glad I just put a Dynomax Super Turbo on my Aerostar.
