replacing an alterantor help
i have a 72 f100. the alternator has gone bad. is it possible for a novice to replace an alternator. if so, please offer any suggestions that may help replacing it. thanks for your help.

It's an easy task. Remove the (-) negative side battery terminal before starting work. There should be 2 bolts holding it in place and 3-4 wires. Just pickup the replacement, and swap it out while the terminal location is fresh in your mine. I believe the terminal leads are such, that it's hard to get them mixed up. Remove the wires first then remove the bolts holding it in place. You may find it easier to remove the belt and loosen the main bolt so it pivots aiding in access to the wiring terminals.
