Not Giving Up Yet
Well I'm not giving up yet. I found this today (though I can't afford it and it would not be enough of a project for me anyway), but it gave me inspiration for the other Ford I was looking at.

So I know all of you say the 64 is the red headed step child but considering I know where a super cheap F250 64 is for parts, do you think it would be easy to put some of the springs, and if any differnt, the axels under the F-100?
Also has anyone out there built a bed like the one above. I can weld pretty darn well and I have the garage space to lay a bed like that out. Just have not looked at it close enough to know where to begin. I assume it is just like a regular bed and you bolt it right onto the bed rail cross bars, but I wasn't sure. I guess if I was going that custom I could do what ever I wanted. A tilt bed would be Awesome!!!
Thanks,
I really like this forum, A lot of good info if you search for it and nice people to boot. Hopefully I have an actual truck soon.

Overpriced "all original" 1963 truck has 1965 grille/parklamps and mirrors from a 1973/79, the dog dish hubcaps are from the 1980's. The Custom Cabs original side moldings are missing, as are the fender emblems. It's been repainted. It's not even close to being all original = which means it's unchanged since it was new, everything is original. It's laughable to read these ads for so-called all original vehicles.
The rear springs interchange between 1957/72 F100/250's, but installing F250 parts on an F100 will be time consuming and expensive. First off, if you change to the F250's Dana 60 rear end, the driveshaft won't be compatible, so it will have to be altered. Most of those 1960's F250 rear ends are low geared (4.10's and 4.56's). Swapping to a taller gear on the Dana 60's is possible..if you can find either the 3.54 or 3.73 gears. Stick with the F100's 9 incher, you're faaar better off.
btw: In CA, 1965/79 F100's are a dime a dozen, are dirt cheap, and have little or no rust. Buying an all original, running truck here for less than a grand and shipping it east, will be far cheaper than fixing up a hashed up, rusty wreck.
A friend just bought an all original 1974 F100 Ranger from an ad he saw in the Penny Saver. The price? $800.00.

I agree with Bill, the claims that some of these sellers come up with. That is one reason for the phrase "they are all 390s on sale day"
