7.3 - Is this noise 'normal' ?
truck is normal diesel noisy at idle, nice and smooth....also seems normal at full throttle...but in that mid-range accelerating slowly...you get intermittent 'pinging' much like a gasser with bad gas. Since the pinging start/stops without any change in throttle...was thinking it might not be 'normal' diesel noise.
Is this normal? If not...possible causes?

The throttle position sensors,(TPS), on these trucks are, in my opinion, very sensitive. Try driving down a rough road and keeping the engine sounds consistent; it's very hard to do. Try using your cruise control to check it out at different speeds. You may answer the question. Just my $.02 worth. Good luck!!
