That's one of the nastier manifestations with the Carter YFA. However it CAN be rectified. Pull the carb off the engine. Flip it upside down and remove the bolts from the base to the body. Wire brush the threads on the bolts. When clean, coat in Locktite and install. Torque down fairly tight. Flip the carb back over and reset the float level. I usually set the upper limit a 1/16" lower than what it calls for and never had one overflow yet. Make sure that the float is not actually saturated(poly) or ruptured and filled(brass). If it floats in a bowl of gas you're ok, if it sinks, then you'll have to replace the float.
DO NOT USE SILICONE GASKET MAKER on the carb gaskets. They need to be dry(no filler!)
I believe Holley makes a direct replacement (or at least they did a few years back) for the YFA. If I can find the # I'll post it.
