Hello New member here needs help.
I just bought a 87 f150 4x4, 4 speed,manual hubs, and manual transfer case. The problem is-
once I get the truck running it may or may not stay idleing. if it does it idles rough. If I try to give it gas it acts like it has a vac leak or is runing out of gas.
I have check the fuel pump, both of them and they are working fine. I have replaced the TPS, and some other senors with no luck. I have not found a vac leak yet. I have not did a presure check of the fuel as of yet. I was wondering if the fuel pressure regulator could b the cause of this? Any help would be appreciated.
The truck has been setting for about 10 months. It had no fuel in it so I put 10 gals in it with some heat incase there was any mositure in the tank. Thanks in advance. Mike
Think I may have found the cause of the problem tonight. I did the pressure check on the fuel line. There was no pressure with the key on. When I ground the fuel pump terminal I had 55 in pressure with no leak down once i shut off the pump. The fuel pump relay was new. I thought well may be it was a bad one (happens from time to time with new parts) I took the one of anothe r87 I have and no luck. When I put a test light on the 2 wd I have I have power to only one connector in the plug. ON the 4x4 I have weak power on one and strong on another, I figure I have a short some where in the wiring, So tomorrow I'm going to trace it down, What a nightmare it will be but I am going to have it running by the weekend.
