Joe, I has got these answer from Stu . I have a "48 F1.

Frank - First of all, welcome to the board. Glad to have you.
The Service Manual says that the standard wheel was a 16 x 4 1/2 "K". I don't find anywhere that defines what that letter "K" stands for. They are Drop Center (DC), five lug x 5.5" bolt circle, and have .62" of offset if that matters to you. There were three tire options. First was a 6.00 x 16 with a 4 ply rating; next a 6.00 x 16 with a 6 ply rating; and third a 6.50 x 16 with a 6 ply rating. Stu

And to cut a long story short, I found on one Ebay, being sold by the most honest, decent, kind and helpful guy I've ever heard of. He did lots of work on the truck post sale (for 2 months!) which included a part respray.
It leaves Houston on 14th Nov and arrives in Southampton 30th Nov. Good timing for Christmas!
Cheers,
QbE.

I had to go with 17's since my F3 has the rear P. brake and nothing smaller will fit around the drum. And since I had to go with 17's I stuck my old tires off my F150 onto them. So I run 265/70/17's I had to make some bump stops on the steering arm so they wouldn't turn into the frame and the arm but it didn't take too much turning radius away. I'd guess you'd need something more like a 225 or 235 wide tire to get away with the stock turning radius. I thought I had a better side pic but I don't:

As of about 12/12/07, I'll be running 17 x 7s all the way around with a 70 or 75 series tire.
Like others here over the age of 45, I don't like the 40 series tires on an old rod.
Will be switching back and forth between 17 inch salt flat discs and beauty rings and baby moons..." Kickin it old school"
