smog test for cat

I am interested in removing the cat. MVD smog test will look for the cat and fail the vehicle in my state if the cat is removed. Do all the other states check for the cat? It is usually on the hood or in the engine compartment if the truck has a cat. I have no problem removing the cat ( which I want to do ) , i just don't want to go through the exercise if I cannot smog the vehicle and register the truck. I don't want to find out at the smog station that I have to put back the original cat. Do they sell a exhaust system with a better cat?
I have a early 99 PSD build date 11/98. Help

I can't think of who right off the bat, but yes, there are a couple of exhaust companies that sell a high-flow low-backpressure cat..

just a word to the wise, it is now against federal law for the owner to eliminate a catalytic convertor.

I just tried to do a search, couldnt find it, but there was a group of us that were looing under the hood, and under our trucks, if i recall correctly, several of us had a cat listed, but didnt have one.. their exhaust was stock..I am sure though if you went to something like a 4" or larger, they would catch on. But again, search this forum, you should find something to help you on this. What state are you in?
