i got a 1994 ford f-150 and i have a 4x4 problem. when i go and lock the hubs in and put it in 4x4 and put the break on and give it so gas. both driveshafts should not turn cause you are not going anywhere right. but when i do it the front driveshaft turns and i hear a loud noise. when that happens the axle shafts do not turn either. do you know what the problem is
i only did that to see if the 4x4 worked when i got it. i took apart the whole axle and the gears are fine, they a worn but not enough to skip. so what could it be, if the gears are good and the axles are still not turning. dont get me wrong i am not trying to do a break stand by any way that is dumb. could it be the pinion splines are shot and they are skipping. could it be the transfer case. thank for your time
