low volt light blinking
the last few times pulling i've noticed that the battery idiot light will come on and off a few times then stay off. the volt guage doesn't drop. My batteries are a year old

Check the little wires that connect on the top of the Alt. Make sure those are clean and are getting a good connection. This was happening to me and all I had to do was take those connections apart and clean them really well and sand the points a little. I haven't seen the light come back yet. Try that first.

Test with a volt meter. Might be time for a new alt.
The copper ring that the brushes ride on wear thru overtime, and cause a flux in voltage. This seems to be the most common failure of fords alt. Also check the wireing plug. (corrode/burnt).
