Ok heres the scoop, I got a car for demolition derby use and it has a 250 six cylinder in it. Runs great. Tiny problem, When I derby I pull ALL the stock wiring out. This means I switch over to a points style distributor. I use a toggle switch to turn the coil on, and a push button for my starter. I got the distributor put in with no problems along with a different coil so I wouldnt burn the points out. I think I got my plug wires put into the right places.
I cant get this damn thing to start to save my life now. Its driving me insane. Does anyone have remedies to this?? I know the coil is good because it came off of a running engine.
Did I possibly get my distributor in wrong or some wires in the wrong places?? Does anyone know the firing order of these engines and which cylinders are which number. Im at a total loss now, PLEASE HELP
The firing order for all I6 engines is 1-5-3-6-2-4. They cylinders are numbered with 1 being at the crank pulley and 6 being at the flywheel. It doesn't matter on the distributor cap which post you have #1 just as long as you follow the firing order in the right direction. Good luck at the derby.
