OD button INOP

OD button INOP
First, here's something that may or may not be relevant:
#1 - when the "new" tranny was installed, the shift indicator was never hooked up (I was told by the guy I purchased the truck from that the brackets or something was different).
So when I'm in OD and hit the button to turn OD off, the light turns on but does not disengage OD. I'm not looking for an exact diag, I'm just wondering what my most likely suspect is.

I also have an un-related question:
My heater is stuck in one position. The guy I bought it from said it was missing a vacuum line or something. I have no clue where to start looking, so I need some help on that as well.

Where is the OD off button? The ones at the end of the shifter can be replaced. Maybe remove to see if it is making contact.
As for the heater, it is vacuum controled. Check in the engine compartment for a vac line near the heater box, pass side firewall. Make sure it has no cracks and you are getting vac. Sorry, can't go into more detail. You might want to do a search.

No idea about the trans.
Here's a vacuum diagram posted before. It's for a 92.......I'm assuming you are talking about your 91 and this should be close.

The OD off button is on the dash.
I'll check more into the vacuum line, I just need a diagram where I could start looking (I didn't know where to look and didn't find what I wanted when I did my search).

I have a kink with mine too ('94 on the shifter), the OD button works fine, only the light doesn't come on, do these ever go out?
