when i drive my truck down the road, it rides smooth and feels level. but when its parked, it looked like its tilted to the drivers side... and even more so in the front.... what could cause this? what should i check?
Struts?????
Shocks do not support weight (unless itis an air shock or something), so the trucks lean is not from the shocks. Heak you could remove the shocks and the heigth will not change.
You have a tired or weak spring. Maybe a broken leaf in the back, or just a spring bushing that is worn.
May also look at colapsed body mounts. If these break, or are compressed, they can cause the vehicle to lean.
so...check body mounts... the coil springs? and the leaf springs?
the leaf springs look good (was just under there) but i know on the driver side, one of the leaf spring clamps, or whatever they are called... is broke
anything else?
also, where would be a good place to get decent replacement springs that wont brake my pocket
Some guys go to the salvage yard, but I try to stay away since they are of unknown use, and you could just be installing a spring that is in worse shape.
I would really inspect that spring that has the broken clamp. Is the clamp on the side that is low?
You could have an individual leaf that is cracked and no longer has resistance. The crack may not be noticeable so you may have to inspect very carefully.
I usually find a spring shop and have leafs rebuilt. This costs less than a complete replacement, and guarantees a spring with new life that will outlast any salvage yard find.
yes, the side with the broken clamp is the side that is low...
i wouldnt go out to a salavage yard for stuff like this, i was lookin for more like a cheap wholesaler on line that would be cheaper then my local advance auto parts...
