I'd pay to see that truck in the mud or the sand dunes.... just to see him grenade his transfer case. I bet that guy was full of bologna!

That is unless he was running 29" tires in the front and 35" tires in the back....

Which of course would be obnoxious in its own right!

I don't know if you guys know monsterbaby on this site, but he had a Bronco frame with a bronco II body, a 460 pushing 900+ hp, and different gears front and rear.......I believe something like 4.30 front and 5.13 rear(don't quote me), and he had 35s up front and 39.5s in the rear, and basically had the same affective gear ratio front and rear b/c of the different tire sizes.
That is one bad little truck! He used it for straight line mud drags, so the bigger wider tires in the back, help with the lanch.

Any way..... If the bronco hasn't been touched, then go to the rear axle, look on the diff cover, and on one of the bolts holding it on, there will be a metal tag. Read it, and see what gear ration it has.(the #s closest to the bolt)

It will show something like 3.55 which is 3.55 gears and open diff or 4L10 which is 4.10 gears and a limited slip. What ever the rear is, the front won't be far off. (ie... 4.09/4.10)

If the rear turns out the be 4.10, and you can put it in 4wd without putting the transfer case in a bind and blowing it up, then the front has 4.09 gears.

If the truck is untoched I doubt it had 4.10 gears, 99 percent of ford trucks came with 3.55s. Besides all he needs to do is read the axle code off of the door post to get the OEM gear ratio that came with the truck - much easer than climbing under and looking for a rusty tag.

Like to know where you came up with that percentage....

Not many people know the codes off the top of their heads, so all he'd need to do is read the tag on the diff(how hard is that, don't be lazy). IF he got it off the door jam, it wouldn't tell him anything, and he'd need to post it up here and wait for a reply from somone that knows. I know, but I don't know when I could of got back to the post.

4.10s were an option so the only way to get it was special order of a new bronco - not many folks have done that. Yes there are some out there, but few and far between. So odds are your bronco came with 3.55s, do a vote the mebers here will be quick to tell you what their broncos came with for gearing.

Axle codes
19 = 3.55s
25 = 4.10s

easy enough.

Nice, your now talking about broncos. Right, most broncos came with 3.55s, 3.55 and limited slip, 3.50 gears and limited slip, and some came with 3.08s, and some with 4.10s and LS.
There are different codes that show if it has a limited slip also, you left that out.

When you said 99% of trucks had 3.55s, that is a wide/wrong statement.
There were 2.75, 3.00, 3.07, 3.08, 3.31, 3.50, 3.54, 3.55, 3.73, 4.09, 4.10, 4.11, 4.30, and 4.56.

Some with open or limited slip, and everone has a different axle code.

19 is only the axle code for a open diff with 3.55s

We are in the bronco thread talking about broncos and most importantly talking about his bronco so my statement holds true in the context of what we are talking about. Axle codes are easy to find, I'll go get them for you.

You said "Ford Trucks", which is why it left a lot of room open for different gear ratios.

He has a Bronco, right, that means he could have a couple different gears in there(3.08, 3.55, and 4.10, w/ or w/out a limited slip).
Just because it's a bronco doesn't mean it has 3.55 gears, a lot might have them, but not 99%

We both know I was talking about broncos, and yes it might not be 99% but its going to be around 90%. The standard option was 355s, 3.08s and 4.10s were options. I've only seen one come with 4.10s in all my years and it was a surplus army bronco.
