I've been having a transient injector knock at idle for a couple of months now, and the cylinder contribution test today shows cylinders 3 and 8 are a little weak. So after 8 years and 220,000 miles I guess it's time for new injectors.
I've pretty well convinced myself to go with stock AD's since I'm really not interested in more power than I already have. What I'm really interested in is the best price on injectors and fuel economy. Is there any reason that I should consider something other than AD's?
Is there any particular problems with reman injectors that would justify spending the extra money for brand new injectors instead?
I'm also looking for advise on who to buy from, so post any good or bad experiences with the about the various sellers of rebuilt injectors as far as quality/price.
Anything anybody has to say that might help me is welcome, and thanks in advance.
If you don't mind the noise, you might look into converting to single shots. I've read several reports of guys getting an increase in MPG with the switch to single shots. Some stock AC's could be good for you, as IIRC AC's are single shots. Bean's would be one place to call.
Yeah, the sellers all claim that singles yield better mileage, but several users have reported no perceptible gain by converting to them. That coupled with the fact that I have no AC cores (about an extra $1000 core charge) and also would need all new tuning (probably another $200) has swayed me away from singles.
I'm not sure that you'd necessarily have to return AC cores. Not that I'm trying to talk you into that, but if you change injectors, as long as you return your used ones, whatever they may be, that's pretty typical. I got modified AC's and gave him ADs in return. No worries.
I agree no perceptable mileage gain. 1mpg . . . maybe. Sound, a little different. A little more cackly maybe. I dunno. I think I expected this big noticeable difference and to average joe, there ain't.
Back to your original question. It shouldnt be that hard to find, theres a hoop of folks on the left side here who sell them, Beans got mentioned, I got mine from Dennis at ITP and thought he was a standup dude, you're looking for run of the mill rather than modified, so that makes life a lot simpler. Now its all just a price issue. You could check ebay as well. I'd be looking at seller history there, and making sure I got brand new not rebuilds.
I still think this is an amazing deal, DPP Power sells remanufactured AC injectors, for $625. Yes that includes all 8. You can't even get new stock ones for that price. The amount you save over a set of new AD's can go to the tuning for the injectors. What have you done to the truck?

I have looked at them, but I haven't really heard from anyone running their AC's. Sounds almost too good to be true, so I'm a little leery if you know what I mean.
amj, thats a huge sale, i want a stock type injector in a stage I, what would you recomend looking at my llst of mods. i would rather not go through the custom tuning deal.
