300? 429? comparable?
Kinda funny guys- I have a 72' highboy crewcab 4x4 - I spent a lot of money on the usual hop-up parts for the 300-6- I thought I was disappointed until a buddy of mine bought the exact same truck (we looked for months to find a decent one at a good price) Any ways, his truck has a reman. 429 with same NP 4speed and 4:11 gears (20k miles or so) - I got to drive it for about 15 miles. I couldn't believe it, my little 300 had darn near the same torque. (his tires were even shorterl) That changed my mind on swapping in the bigger motor. (I really do like the v8 sound of the 429 though) Granted, this was probably a early 70's smog motor with low compression, poor heads & retarded timing, but still made me think. Oh, and I checked my milage- averaged 15 around town- I will check it on the highway, hope to get 17-18.

Thats great to hear. I'll put my 300 up against any stock new engine, and mine is stock. Just because an engine looks good on paper dosen't mean it will perform how you want it. I say long live the 300. Being the unique one with the inline six is cool too.

I know I drive my girlfriends f150 shortbox/single cab with a 5.0/5 speed- my 5500# truck is faster.
What do you mean about the powerstroke? How does a warmed up 300 compare?
