96' 350 Acting Up

Hey guys,

For the third day in a row, My truck has been acting up in the morning. It has been getting into the upper 30's here at night. On the first day, I thought maybe the fuel had gelled. I dumped some diesel 911 in and It was fine. The next morning it did the same thing. I didnt let it warm up as much, and it started sputtering and puking about 1 min after I left the house. It is hard to start, and when it does start you really have to lay into the gas to keep it running. By the time I limp the truck home, It idles rough for about 2 minutes and then clears up and is fine the rest of the day. Today I didnt get out of the little area where we live and she died again. This time the abs light flashed and the CEL came on. I limped it home and then it ran fine. The CEL stayed on until I shut the truck off and then turned it back on. I just came home to type this and the truck ran fine. Anyone have any suggestions? The only things I have done to the truck are unplug the ebpv and added a 6637 filter setup. The Ebpv has a plug in the harness to keep dirt and stuff out. I got it from puredieselpower.com I think. Truck has 245k, It is due for an oil change in about 500 miles, It seems to be in an acceptable level though. The fuel filter hasn't been changed in a while so I think I will pick one up today, I dont think that is it because of the CEL Light. The CPS Is only about 18 months old. It is a ford part, not the updated blue one. The tach does move when cranking. So I have ruled that out.

Thanks

Derek

P.S. Last weekend I changed the batteries and the GPR

I might start with an oil change, see what happens, verify fuel pressure,,,

Could be the Glowplugs or the CPS the cps has been known to fail prematurely so you cant rule that out. When were the glowplugs last changed? I would start with the fuel filter when you change it open the fuel water separator and drain the bowl completely look for sludge and clean the FPR screen if needed. Fill the bowl up with seafoam when installing the new filter.

I Just Changed the fuel pump in september, So the fuel bowl is clean. I did unplug the heater though because the C shaped wire came loose from the plate. I am going to change the fuel filter tomorrow as well as clean the fpr screen. When my other Cps failed, I didnt get a cel light. What should fuel pressure be arround? It is kind of tough to do it with a Tire gauge, it always bounces arround.
