A decal would be alot easier for the sign. There are alot of graphic companies that can make them.

The paint and body is best suited for this https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum67/

As for primering the whole truck. This will not prevent rust. Epoxy primer will seal things up if clean. But these have a window you must adhere to if you want top coats to stick to it. Other wise you have to scuff it up.

Primer is not waterproof, nor does it offer any UV protection. When exposed to the elements for any length of time all it does is create more problems and more rust.......

I was thinkin the primer more as something to make it all the same color(and cuz I don't have the money to take it in to be painted)...and from there I'd paint over that

A vinyl sign printing company, like blues68 mentioned, should also be able to print out a stencil of the sign that you can use for a mask and remove later. If you're looking for a"primer" look, there are a few single stage paints available that resemble primer but have uv and rust protection.

There's a good thread in the paint section on rolling "yes rolling" your paint on if you want to save money and don't have any painting equipment. The pics of their results were surprising.

Also, do you know of any graphics places near Phoenix, AZ?

Is you old paint bad or are you just wanting to change color? If the paint is good no reason to put a primer on it.

For quick and dirty, wipe it down with a wax and oil remover, spray a sealer, the a single stage paint. The cheapest you can get since your going to remove it later.

My 68 had the sky blue over white. I'm going back a darker blue over white.

As far as your sign you can make your own template and use spray paint. Just remove and wax and oil before spraying. Or take it to a company that make signs and let them print your off a decal or template.

That's about what I wanna do eventually...cept I'll have it jus the darker blue since Mine was jus the light blue, and I'm also gonna paint black over the cab, like it has now but not that crappy spray on vinyl junk.

I've got a plastic sign that I got that I plan to use to make a template
