I know just about anything from DEi either has the functions already on it or offer it as a add-on. Same thing goes for Code Alarm (Audiovox) and Ungo (Clarion).
Yea. Not sure about other brands but I would assume they do. DEI has a wire that would need to be hooked up called a 'wait to start' wire for just this reason. Also, you may need another box which is called a 'tach signal generator'. When I was an installer, not very many diesels came in, but the one I did needed that 'tach signal generator' to get it to work properly. Not sure if it is for all.
Ill find out who makes it and post later...I think its cobra? works up to 1 mile away which is cool!
I'm guessing you are thinking of the Viper 5900SST. I just installed the same model in my 2004 6.0L.
To the OP, what truck are we talking about? I know the 6.0L & 6.4L super duties and maybe a few of the 7.3L have a tach wire that is ready to use just under the dash. It's installed so that a PTO may be installed in the future.
Last month I installed the factory remote start with the security system on my 06 diesel. The module with Tack inverter cost me $260.00 and took about 8 hours to install. It has a diesel timer built in I got it from http://www.powerstrokeshop.com/ and downloaded the instructions from http://www.gemsen.com/Ford/ Hope this helps
