wiring for 84 e-line

wiring for 84 e-line
so the brake lights on this van are all disconnected, only the right signal light comes on, but it seems to turn on even if you're signalling left. also the dash instrument lights are out except for the left signal arrow, which stays on (solid, not blinking) all the time. right now the most important to me is getting the brake lights working, so what do i test first? i have a multimeter but i only have wiring diagrams for the trucks, so does anyone know if those are similar?
by the way i'm new!
i have an 85 F-250 6.9 ATS turbo 4x4 running on veggie oil
but, now i'm replacing it with an 84 econoline 350.

Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.
My guess is you have either several broken wires or the turn signal switch is fubar.
Turn signal, brakes and four way flashers all go through the signal switch in the column.
