For the past couple of hours I have been looking for my vehcile speed sensor and I can't find it anywhere, it is not on the rear diff, that is the abs sensor, and I can't find it on the transmission or t-case, I have a 351-w, e4od, borg warner 1356 electric shift tcase.
Looked in my service manual and it listed this for vehicle speed sensor:
The speed sensor, mounted on the rear of the transfer case (7A195), tells the electronic control module the speed of the vehicle to allow range shifts (in or out of 4L) to occur.
I believe it looks like this:
That is basically the sensor that allows you to shift an electronic 4x4 into low range depending on your speed. The sensor will not allow it if you are going too fast. I'm assuming that you're looking to replace the RABS sensor.

Looked at my transfer case and I definitely don't have that sensor... Either way, you're probably looking to replace the RABS sensor. You should be fine.
The parts stores have not figured this one out for some reason. The only VSS on 92 and up trucks is the sensor on the rear end, but for some reason the parts look-ups still list the older VSS that goes in-line with the speedometer cable. Since the 92-up trucks don't have a speedometer cable, there's no place to put the older VSS. Basically what I'm trying to say is, don't go crazy looking for that VSS pictured above, because you won't find one on a 96.
yeah I went crazy looking for one last night, I should have got on here first before going to the auto stores, the people there had me convinced that mine fell off or was ripped off or just not there. Thanks FTE I owe you once again. I already purchased the rear abs sensor and we should be good on that, I will be putting that in today, thanks guys.
Man!! And here I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out why rockauto listed that as a part for these trucks... Haha, wish you woulda shown up sooner Eric. I knew there was something wrong with this whole situation...
Hey do any of you guys know the part number or where I could possibly get the shift on the fly switch that is in the dash, says 4x4-low range, and has a little light next to it. Thanks for any help I can get.
