What is the most power you guys have beeng able to get from a straight six. Would it ever be work hot rodding a truck with a straight six, or would it be better to just scrap the whole engine and drop in a V8? Just curious. Thanks.

It really depends on what v8 I have a faily built i6 300 Im happy with. Heck its even for sale if your close to PA. Id say its tuff to beat a built up 351w or 429/460 but I would never swap a 300 for a 302 unless your talking fuel injected roller motor. Andy

Sorry, I live in Arkansas. I don't need a new one anyway. The one currently in the truck only has 73,000 miles on it and I hear they can pile up the miles before they need any serious work. Thanks for the offer though. Is straight six worth hotrodding from a finacial standpoint, or is it cheaper and easier to drop in a crate motor or something? I will probably keep the engine I have until it dies, then maybe see if I can stuff more cubic inches under the hood.

well...u can hot rod a carb'd 300 easier than a EFI and the coolness factor would be 10x better when ya open the hood and see a hopped up 6 instead of the everyday, run of the mill v-8. give www.fordsix.com a try and look at their forums, plenty of advice.
