The guy i bought my truck from put a 4 speed from a 85 bronco in my 76 f 150, i tried to put the front driveshaft in it and there is like maybe a quater inch of clearance from the shaft to the crossmember ,as soon as the driverside of the axle sags a little its gonna bottom out and bust either the shaft or thranny ect. I took it to a guy and he said he would have to fab. a bracket for the tranny and then put a carrier barring on the crossmember, then get a 2 piece driveshaft made, Total of about 300-400 worth of work. I was wondering if i get a crossmember out of bronco if it would fit up in mine. Any suggestions? Oh the reason for all this is, the transfercase sits back father than stock.
see if you can find a front shaft for the bronco. i think they have the double cardan joint setup. take some measurements from under your truck. maybe that will be all you need?
the transcrossmember was at some point modified to fit my truck, somebody torched out and put a u shaped fist sized drop to clear the shaft. if the shaft will not work maybe some mods will be necessary. good luck
the shaft fits its just clearence from the crossmember, sombody said that if i cut the crossmember it will mess with the structually intg. of the frame. Did u notice any diff. in yer truck? Can i see a pic of that?
i can take a picture but will need your email, i do it from my phone. i am technogically deprived. my wife does the camera and the batterys are usually dead. send me your email and i'll get a pict out to you.
