I have to install 2 antennae in a Ford F250 4wd truck with a 5.7l V8. Regular cab. Before I go tearing things apart, can anyone give me the correct procedure for removing the headliner inside the cab? Thanks
i presume you have a SD heres a link to installing clearance light it will tell you all about the headlinerhttp://www.emotoman.com/f250/lights/f250lights.htm
I'm not sure what an 'SD' is (standard duty?). There is no console up there, and clearance lights came with it, but I guess the most important part is to remove the visors and wiggling the headliner to remove the plastic clips. I need to drop the headliner to get at the center. There's supposed to be a reinforcing thing through the center but we don't know if it runs front to back or side to side. Well, I guess I'll find out when I pull this thing down! That will probably determine whether I mount the antennas side by side or one behind the other. Both antennas use NMO mounts which means fairly large holes. (3/4" or 5/8").
If he has a 5.7 engine (351) then yes, it's a pre-99 truck.
Headliner removal is still about the same as the procedure linked by getnbz. Remove the visor brackets, start pulling it down carefill from the front. You'll probably have to remove the dome light and maybe the door "trim" but it will be evident as the liner comes down. Just go slow and take your time, it isn't hard.
No, it's a 2001 Super Duty (thanks!) and the engine is a 5.4 liter V8. Thanks for all the advice. The antennae still aren't here - I'll wait until they get here before starting this!
