<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">Hello everyone, i was wondering if anyone knows if there have been any known problems(or from experience) with the 1999 f-250 4X4 7.3L diesel with 180,000 miles. i am going to look into getting one but was curious to hear from guys/gals who actually own them. i know of one guy i used to work with has one and says its the best vehicle he has ever owned. thanks for the info and advice everyone.

do you think there is anything i should be worried about, the guy says it was well maintained. im a certified mechanic but just kinda lookin for a heads up before i go out to look at it.
I have a 99 250 4x4 with the 7.3 and bought it with 167,000 miles on it. I was just like you and was new to the diesel thing and didn't want to buy junk. I looked around and most people said the 7.3 should last a lot longer. They stress looking at the fluids and always smell the tranny fluid for color and if it is burnt, since the trannys in these trucks don't seem to last more then 140,000 miles even though you get a good one every once and awhile. Ball joints are also known trouble makers. But all considered I now have 183,000 miles on it with no major problems. I hope you find this helpful and goo luck getting new truck.
I have a 99 with 1785K on it....runs great. Other than the usual maintainence stuff like tires, brakes etc, it is all original. And still looks good too.
