Posted this to the Escape forum, but maybe it would be more appropriate here:

I'm about to receive a 2008 Escape XLT as a company car. The equipment list indicates that it will have a standard radio, which is listed as being "satellite capable". I'm trying to determine exactly what that means, and what I'll need to do in order to get things going. I definitely want Sirius, and I don't simply want an after-market plug 'n' play unit with an FM modulator that I'd have to mount on the dash somewhere. I'd like it to be wired direct.

I already have a Sirius subscription which I can move over to this vehicle, but is that all I'll need? Or will I need additional hardware components, antenna, etc? I've been to three dealerships and none of them have been able to tell me what it really takes to get Sirius playing on the "satellite capable" radio.

You will need to add the antenna and a component behind the dash to translate the signal. The stock radio will display the info about the show/song and play the music, but it cannot receive the satellite signal.

I have a ’05 Five Hundred and looked into the same thing but we liked the Sirius S50 radio that we had in the old car so I mounted it in the new one.
