I am sure this toic has been beat up before becuase I did a search. I was unable to find a post revealing the location of the keyless entry code in the 2000 Excursion. I did see one post stating there are no stickers with the code. I am trying to verify this information. I have looked for the box behind the radio to no avail. If you have some information on this can yall let me know. I thank you in advance.
Nope, I follow the forum daily, that thread is the latest and judging by it's replies, 19 pages, it must be the greatest! Good luck. I got mine from the dealer when I had them replace a glow plug wiring harness.
Getting the algorithm to list all the possible code combinations is not as big of a deal as it sounds. It really doesn't take long to hit the right code. I almost question if the factory has more than one factory code set on each vehicle because everyone seems to hit the code relatively quickly. I know some dealerships do it for free, but the previous method is a heck of a lot cheaper than most dealerships. I personally wouldn't pay.
From reading the longer thread it looks like the 2000 does not have the code behind the radio. The 2000 code is supposed to be behind the fuse block (I hear you actually have to remove the fuse block to see it.) Before trying that I figured I'd go through the word doc.... 1/2 way through the first page I've got my code!!!
I'll betcha that if you ask your service manager nicely next time you're in for some work that he'd pull it for you..I don't know fer sure, but I think that they just have to pull it from a special program with your VIN.. Mine did it for free in a very short time..
