i have had an 84' f150 and currently drive a 90' f150. both have the 300 I6. they are very dependable engines even if they are not well maintained. i have seen a 91' f150 used as a farm truck with 200000+ miles on it on the original spark plugs. the 300 is a very tough motor. great for towing heavy loads, or off roading. only thing i don't like about it is that speed and acceleration aren't that great.

Anyone could go on and on about this engine, I've heard one go 500k miles, 450k miles, and the average is 250-350k miles. If you want, check out the "whos high mileage king" thread in this forum. The other guys basically covered what people would say about the engine, just everyone chips in with their person situation. Great engine, probably hte most durable Ford ever made.
